Beyond Life Coaching ..
Life's Purpose Coaching for extra-ordinary people!

The one thing (maybe the only thing!) most people of whatever nationality, faith, colour or political view would agree on is that we want to make the world a better place for our children.  To live your Mission, your Life’s Purpose is the most powerful contribution to yourself and the planet you can make.  Living your Mission is going to make a difference to your life, the lives of others and the planet.

Living your Mission, your Purpose in Life is often simple - but it is rarely easy ..

"Mission Coach supported me to get very clear about taking my business to a another level.  I was able to put my stake in the ground, feeling energised to move forward with certainty and confidence."
Rita Bailey Managing Director, London

Rediscovering your Purpose in Life is not the Problem - Living it is!
With the help of your Mission Coach you will gain tremendous insight into your Life’s Purpose within a few hours of coaching, providing you are open to the process.   The process of rediscovery is like looking into a mirror which to start with may be far in the distance with hundreds of obstacles and distractions between you and it.  The mirror is a true reflection of who you really are, you know it’s there but you have never created the opportunity to look at it (until now!).

The role of your Mission Coach is to guide you through a process of self-revelation by removing the obstacles and distractions from the path allowing you and the mirror (who you really are) to come closer until all you see is the mirror.  Of course you always have the Free Will to close your eyes and pretend it’s not there - and people do!

It is after you have rediscovered your Life’s Purpose that the fun really begins!  When it’s first rediscovered your Mission is like a bubble – it’s easily burst.  If you are brave enough to share what you have rediscovered with a friend or spouse you may be surprised they are not as enthusiastic about your discovery as you are – personal relationships can be a real challenge.

Many people believe their lives will take off when they have at last found their Purpose in Life and that once found the way ahead will be lit like a runway and they will automatically be given the courage, inspiration and confidence to take their Mission out into the world.  For some people this may be true but for many it will not.  Most people expect their Mission to be presented to them as an awakening or epiphany and anything less than a choir of angels will not be sufficient to convince them this is truly their Mission!

Living your Mission is not an event or a goal to be achieved
Choosing to live your Life's Purpose is a moment-to-moment decision to engage in a process, a partnership with the Universe (or with your God if you prefer).  Although we have the Free Will to choose if the partnership is a harmonious one, we often choose to struggle and resist that which we know we “should” or could be doing to lead a more fulfilling life. The role of your Mission Coach is to create and hold a “space” where you are free to explore what your Mission is and how you can live it in a way that serves you and others.  Your Mission Coach will encourage you to:

  • express your uniqueness and dare to be different
  • move beyond the challenges you may face
  • develop an appreciation of the skills and talents you already have and realise your potential to develop any new talent you need
  • develop an awareness of the synchronicities that occur when you commit to living your Mission

"Mission Coaching has proved invaluable for me in helping to take both thought and action forward. What was important was that my coach was coming from the same basic standpoint - that fulfillment in our lives comes from living our mission (or at least moving closer and closer to it). This built both a high level of rapport and a sort of alignment in our thinking, so that the already considerable benefits of excellent coaching were greatly enhanced."

Living Your Mission and Making Money
This is often the biggest struggle we have as we are faced with what we believe is the choice of either Mission or money.  In addition, our cultural or religious beliefs may dictate that receiving money for what we love doing (our Mission) is wrong.  To many people the word "rich" would be the opposite to the words "God", "good" or "spiritual".

A definition of prosperity could be to be able to spend most of our time doing what we truly love to do.  Prosperity is more than just having money but it does not serve us to hide behind some New Age affirmation which suggests we can experience prosperity without money.

The pursuit of money can also be a major distraction from living our Mission.  Although there are times when pursuing money serves us, there are also times when it does not, at those times we need the courage and confidence to do something different.  Having a Mission Coach, another person who understands and recognises money distractions can help you decide the course of action most likely to take you in the direction you truly wish to go.  Together with your Coach you will:

  • evaluate opportunities
  • avoid distractions
  • develop your own creative solutions to your own unique problems
  • identify other resources, books, audio, web sites and advisors who can assist you
  • define the role of money in your life and what prosperity means to you
  • live your life fulfilled, knowing you are making a difference to yourself and others and being an example others may choose to follow

Living Your Mission and Challenges with Relationships
Your Mission is so unique to you it is not always possible to share your challenges and experiences with your family and friends who are often the people you would most like to share them with.  Understandably, close relationships can be considerably stretched and challenged  - particularly if the actions you wish to take (e.g. change of job) are going to affect the family routine or finances.

A deviation from the normal routine can be frightening for both you and those people closest to you.  At these times having a Mission Coach who understands the challenges you are likely to face will make a huge difference and help you find a way to communicate your passion and commitment to your Mission with those people closest to you.

"From a very early age, I felt there was a reason why I was here, like I was meant to live an extraordinary life. Even into my adult years this sense of purpose has never left me. However, having these feelings was one thing, taking the actions that would put me on an unstoppable collision course with my calling was another thing altogether. Between feeling like I was sitting on the sideline watching and not participating and an acute lack of self-discipline, I seemed to be moving sideways at best. Fortunately though, my strong belief in a greater purpose led me to seek outside assistance, and after a lengthy search online, I found Mission Coach. After just a few months of coaching, I now have a crystal-clear direction that I’m focused on and I’m more action orientated. Thanks Mission Coach for helping me move towards my life’s mission."

Living Your Mission and Self-Doubt
Self doubt often manifests as procrastination, "paralysis of analysis", or the constant search for the “right” book, course, teacher, economic climate etc.  Many people believe that when they know their Mission everything will become clear - and doubt, fear and confusion will disappear completely.

Although this could happen, most of us struggle with various issues.  When you make the decision to live your Mission you can almost guarantee you will be confronted by the aspects of your life which have already challenged you.  For example, if you struggle to keep a positive balance on your bank account there is a good chance you will be faced with money issues when you make the commitment to live your Mission.

Your Mission Coach is able to help you anticipate areas of your life where some preparation would minimise the impact of issues which may arise and help you through the periods of self doubt which we all experience from time to time.

The need for security, taking risks and embracing opportunity
Helen Keller, deaf and blind from the age of 19 months, wrote:  “Security is mostly a superstition.  It does not exist in nature nor do the children of man as a whole experience it.  Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.  Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.  To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.”

It is ironic at a time when more money, more help and more opportunity is available to us than ever before we often spend weeks and months saying “Really I should ..” and become distracted by what we call “real life” until yet another year passes.  When we come to the end of our time here on Earth we are more likely to regret the things we did not do more than the things we did.

We have a choice - settle for a life of mediocrity and conformity because we fear failure if we venture beyond our cultural, social, religious and business “norms” OR live our lives as a creative expression of who we really are by living our Mission - what better example could we set for the next generation?

Many people have a sense of Mission but sometimes lack the inspiration and courage to live it as an expression of themselves. Having a Mission Coach - someone who understands the process - is extremely valuable in helping you identify the resources you already have that make that change possible.

Mission Coaching Maybe New Your Mission is Not!
The ancient Indian spiritual teaching of Vedanta tells us this about our Life’s Purpose or “Dharma”:

  • you have unique talents and unique ways of expressing them
  • there are some things you can do better than anyone else in the whole world
  • for every unique talent you possess other people have unique needs
  • when these unique needs are matched with the creative expression of your unique talent the opportunity arises to create unlimited wealth and abundance.

At the Edge of Chaos One Person (You!) Can Make a Difference
Danah Zohar author of “The Quantum Self” made the statement “at the edge of chaos one person can make a difference”.   We know we live in turbulent times and in many ways it appears the world has gone mad and this madness is the “chaos” Zohar is describing.  While the recent history of human beings on the planet could be described as consistently chaotic one thing that has changed is our power to communicate.

It was Victor Hugo who once said “there is nothing so powerful as an idea whose time has come” - this could be true of your Mission too.  At the edge of chaos you could be the one person who makes the difference.

"Mission Coaches are second to none. I will only allow myself to be coached by a Mission Coach as that way I know I am getting the best."
Michael Horton, Coach, London

What’s Urgent and What’s Important in Your Life?
In his book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, Steven Covey talks about 4 quadrants - a square divided into 4 smaller squares numbered 1 to 4.  Against each number is placed the following:

  1. Important and Urgent
  2. Important and Not Urgent
  3. Not Important and Urgent
  4. Not Important and Not Urgent

If you take a moment to list your day to day activities you will most likely find that quadrant 1 - Important and Urgent - plays a big part. What may surprise you, though, is the amount of time and energy you give to quadrant 3 - Not Important and Urgent. Yet many of the activities you find most fulfilling, creative and meaningful to you fall into quadrant 2 - Important and Not Urgent.

We live in a society driven by urgency often being driven more by the desire for speed than direction, more by the clock than the compass and find ourselves rapidly moving towards place we really don’t want to go.  Quadrant 2 is where your Mission often languishes; it stays "Important and Not Urgent", and many people go to their grave never having explored their Life’s Purpose.

The Time to Re-Mission Your Life Is Now
Remission is the term often given to a serious medical condition which has abated or “disappeared”, usually without a conventional medical explanation.  It is natural that when faced with the possibility of death we reflect on our life and when the condition goes into remission and the prospect of death is lifted there is the opportunity to "re-mission" - to re-evaluate what is truly important and to decide how to spend the precious time we have left here on Earth.

You do not need to go through the experience of near-death to re-mission your life.  Think about this - if you were given all the resources you need (i.e. money, time, courage, confidence, skill, manpower) for a period of 12 months and you knew that whatever you attempted to do you would succeed..

  1. what would you achieve in one year?
  2. what resources would you need?

By answering these questions fully you are starting to evaluate what is truly important to you bringing them more sharply into focus and making them more real.  Within your answers to these questions lies the seeds of your Mission, now it is up to you to nourish them and allow them to grow.
