Mission Coach Newsletter June 2005 (Vol. 6)

Welcome to the June Mission Coach monthly newsletter.  We are almost half way through 2005 and this is the 6th issue of the Mission Coach newsletter which I am pleased to say has been as unpredictable in content as the last 5!  This month sees the first edition of this newsletter in HTML format, your feedback on the new format is welcome.

This month we have part 4 of (what started as) a 3 part article on 9 Ways to Rediscover Your Life’s Purpose.  In this conclusion we draw some further insights into what Life’s Purpose is and how it could be the Ultimate Experience.

The Tool Review this month is the Handbook to Higher Consciousness by Ken Keyes, Jr.  The book’s copyright permits 5000 words to be quoted without permission; I have created a page on the Mission Coach site which has the complete “Twelve Pathways” and “Seven Centers of Consciousness” text (on which the book is based) for your reference.

In the “What’s Up?” section there is some information for new authors and for those of you who are interested in the role of diet in the prevention and cure of conditions such as cancer, also there is a new movie just released in the UK that’s well worth watching.

On a personal note, I am looking for a Literary Agent for the Spiritual Fiction book(s) I am writing.  If you know of an agent who is willing to accept the work of a new author I would be grateful if you could let me know, my contact details are at the bottom of this newsletter.

Let’s get started with this Month’s Article ..

Rediscovering Your Life’s Purpose (Part 4!)
Conclusion - It’s All Down to (Earth for) Experience!

Last month when I started writing the conclusion to the 9 ways to Rediscover Your Life’s Purpose, I read back through the previous articles and began to make new connections some of which are presented here. My apologies for the number of footnotes but this article touches on a number of significant points.

(Unconditional) Love Changes Everything!
Many people believe our Mission, our Purpose in Life, has been “assigned” to us by our Creator (God, Allah, Siva whatever we choose to call our Creator) but believing this runs into a major stumbling block if we also believe:

  1. Our Creator loves us unconditionally
  2. The ultimate expression of Unconditional Love our Creator has bestowed upon us is the gift of Free Will

Being “assigned” a Purpose in Life and being told the “10 Commandments”[1] are the framework within which we should manifest that Purpose (otherwise the consequences will be unimaginable) is wholly inconsistent with the idea of an Unconditionally Loving Creator who has given us the gift of Free Will.  You don’t give your children fantastic toys and then punish them for playing with them!  ANY form of judgement or punishment is wholly inconsistent with the belief in an Unconditionally Loving Creator.

Why Are You Here?
We exercise our Free Will by choosing what to think, based on our thoughts we make decisions some of which we are consciously aware of and some we are not.  Based on our decisions we take action and it is from action (or non action) we create our experience.  Who we (think we) are today is the sum total of our experiences up until now.  Where we (think we) are today is the sum total of the actions we have taken or not taken up until now.

According to Conversations with God (CWG): “You are here to experience the next grandest version of the greatest vision ever you held about who you really are” [2], the key word in this statement is “experience”.

Take Your Soul Out of its Garage for a Spin
To see how this CWG statement could be true I invite you to let go of your physical body for a few moments and allow your-self to become the “Silent Witness”, the Soul or Spirit form who is currently using that body as (to use Wayne Dyer’s words) “the garage where you park your Soul”.

Here in Spirit form you have no physical body and therefore you have nothing that can be harmed, nothing that can die, you are perfectly and permanently safe. There is a major draw back about being in Spirit form though; to have an “experience” you need a physical body![3]

It’s All Down to (Earth for) Experience
From the perspective of the Spirit we take physical form [4] to “experience”.  I realise that last sentence feels like it should end with “life” but to do so would limit the range of experiences we may come to the Earth Plane to have.  To illustrate please stay in Spirit form while you consider the following:

  1. Rediscovering your Life’s Purpose and living your Mission from the perspective of the Spirit is an experience
  2. Rediscovering your Life’s Purpose and pretending you didn’t from the perspective of the Spirit is an experience
  3. Being overweight and watching soap operas on TV all day from the perspective of the Spirit is an experience
  4. Being in a physically or mentally handicapped body from the perspective of the spirit is an experience
  5. Being in an abusive relationship from the perspective of the spirit is an experience
  6. Being a foetus in a womb and terminated at the age of 6 weeks from the perspective of the spirit is an experience
  7. Being born into poverty and dying of starvation at the age of 4 years old from the perspective of the spirit is an experience
  8. Helping those people affected by 2,3,4,5,6 and 7 from the perspective of the spirit is an experience

From the perspective of the Spirit you have chosen to take physical form to play a role much like an actor (okay actress too but as a Spirit we are unlikely to have a gender!), a very experienced actor who has played many challenging roles over many life experiences[5].  Being true to this role and living it fully is your Mission, your Purpose in Life for this life-time.

To see how this works let’s use the analogy of a great movie actor currently on the Earth Plane, one of my favourites, Tom Hanks.  I wonder which role was more challenging for him to play; Forest Gump who had mental issues or Commander Jim Lovell in Apollo 13, a hero (in a nice way!) who clearly did not?  Apart from the fact Tom was bouncing around in an aircraft to film the weightless scenes in Apollo 13 my money would be on Forest Gump being the most challenging role.

If we were to find ourselves a real Forest Gump on the Earth Plane and ask him; “Hey Forest, what’s your Purpose in Life?” I think we would get one of two responses 1) “Life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re goanna get – but I’ll share what I got”[6], or 2) “Sorry, I don’t know what you are talking about.”  My guess would be response number 2 and that would be perfect.

Here is the irony and the first point I would like to share with you by posing a question; who is being more true to their Purpose in Life (the role they have come to play):

  • Forest Gump who (bless him!) doesn’t appear to know what Life’s Purpose is yet is true to himself and lives life “full on” with a child-like innocence?
    OR
  • a person who does know what Life’s Purpose is, maybe even knows what their own Life’s Purpose is but chooses to ignore it because they are “too busy”?

It’s not a question of one being “right” and the other being “wrong”, from the perspective of the Spirit both are experiences, which brings us to the second point…

When we are aware of the existence of Life’s Purpose, even if we have not yet rediscovered what our own Life’s Purpose is, the Universe (or Creator)[7] presents us with endless opportunities to make the decision to rediscover and live our Life’s Purpose, to be true to the role we have chosen to come here and play.

How does the Universe do this?  These are listed in order of “emotional weight” e.g. the “heavy weight” is more likely to grab our attention (hopefully you recognise these - if not please read the previous 3 parts of this article!):

  • Heavy weight; epiphanies, illness/accidents
  • Middle weight; defining moments, inspiration and mistakes
  • Light weight; frustration/desperation
  • Potentially heavy weight; belief modelling, techniques, Mission Coaching and what you decide to do now!

Conclusion to the Conclusion of Part 4 of this 3 Part Article!
Living our Life’s Purpose is a moment by moment decision to open ourselves to a role we have chosen in the Universal theatrical production called “Experience”, from the perspective of the Spirit “Experience” is the only play in town.
From the perspective of where you and I (think we) are now, on the Earth Plane, to live fully our Life’s Purpose is the Ultimate Expression of Free Will and the greatest gift we can give to ourselves, our world and our Creator.

Footnotes for this article
[1] Conversations with God talks of the “10 Commitments” – this is far more consistent with the concept of an Unconditionally Loving Creator!
[2] Please see the January Newsletter for an explanation of this statement, a link is at the bottom of this newsletter.
[3] how tempting it is to dive in at this point and explore how this could be true – but that’s a complete article (probably a complete book) in itself!
[4] according to CWG and quantum science our physical body and our physical world is an illusion of our own creation – this again would be a great subject for a future article.
[5] let’s not get too hung up on the concept of multiple lives or reincarnation!  Having said that - if you really want to fry your brains consider this; according to quantum physics there is no such thing as time.  If this is true and you accept the idea of reincarnation it means you are living all your (multiple maybe infinite number of) lifetimes all at once!  If you are interested in a technique that explores the concept of “vertical time” check out “TimeScape”, there is a link at the bottom of this newsletter.
[6] you need to see the film to get the chocolate connection, if you haven’t yet seen it, please do.
[7] if we are all ONE and we create our own reality we are co-creating our own opportunities.

Next Month’s Article
There is so much “diverse” information (I am being diplomatic here) on the Net and in books about “Mission Statements” that I would like to share some ideas about creating something that will help you “re-engage” with your Life’s Purpose on a daily basis.

Next month we will take the concept of Mission Statements a stage further by creating a “Mission Sheet” containing not just your Mission Statement (in whatever form that may be) but also other writings (could be pictures too) that are meaningful to you.

This Month's Tool Review

This month we review the book “Handbook to Higher Consciousness” by Ken Keyes, Jr, Published by Eden Grove Editions, ISBN 1 870845 24 2, 213 pages, price on Amazon £8.99, USD $9.95 (see the links at the bottom of this newsletter).

I first read this book 2 years ago after I had read “The Power of Now” the combination of the 2 books was profound.

Chapter 1 – Why this book was written for us
What a curious title for a chapter!  This chapter outlines four advantages of the “Living Love” way to higher consciousness, 1) it’s powerful and rapid, 2) does not require detachment from present life, 3) it is not essential to have a teacher, 4) the “inner work” immediately adds to the joy of life.

Chapter 2 – Secrets of Happiness
This explores the root causes of unhappiness; “Our wants and desires are so seductive .. They masquerade as needs that must be satisfied so we can be happy.  They lead us from one illusion of happiness to another”.  The author also looks at how we acquired our “emotional programming” as infants.

Chapter 3 – The Law of Higher Consciousness
This chapters starts by looking at Unconditional Love and makes the statement; “Love everyone unconditionally – including yourself” and “do not berate yourself because you are not enlightened by the third Tuesday of next month.” How do we love unconditionally?  “Learning to love unconditionally means getting free of interference from our programmed addictions.”

Chapters 4,5,6,7,8 – The Twelve Pathways
The book’s copyright permits 5000 words to be quoted without permission I have therefore included the complete “Twelve Pathways” on this page on the Mission Coach website:
www.mission-coach.co.uk/pages/article_handbook_to_higher_consciousness.asp
If this link has wrapped onto 2 lines it may not work, please copy and paste both lines into the address bar of your browser.

Chapter 9 – The Seven Centers of Consciousness
These too have been included on the page on the Mission Coach accessed through the link above.

Chapter 10 – The Three Centers of Unhappiness
This chapter looks at why the three lower centers create unhappiness:
The Security Center – fear, worry, anxiety etc
The Sensation Center – disappointment, frustration boredom etc
The Power Center – Anger, resentment, hate etc

Chapter 11 – The Two Joyous Centers
These are the Love Center and Cornucopia Centers.
“As you learn to live more and more in the Love Center of Consciousness, you will begin to find that you are creating a new world in which your consciousness resides.  People and conditions are no longer a threat to you – for no one can threaten your preferences.”

Chapter 12 – The Fulfilling Centers
These are the Conscious Awareness Center and the Cosmic Consciousness Center.
“The world is here for us to enjoy, but we can totally enjoy it only when we are free from identifying with the roles we play in the drama of life.  The only way to continuously enjoy a game of chess or checkers is to avoid taking it so seriously that we get emotionally caught up in either winning or loosing.

Chapter 13 – Five Methods for Working on Yourself
These include: memorising the twelve pathways, being aware of the consciousness centre you are experiencing, linking the suffering with the addiction, using the “catalyst” (affirmation) “All ways us living love and …

Chapter 14 & 15 - Consciousness Focusing
This method is explained in detail and is divided into four stages; 1) Explore the suffering, 2) Pinpoint the addiction, 3) Select your reprogramming phrases, 4) Focus on reprogramming. Chapter 15 looks at “Techniques of consciousness focusing”.

Chapter 16 – The Instant Consciousness Doubler
This chapter can be summarised by this statement: “Expand your love, your consciousness and your loving compassion by experiencing everything that everyone does or says as though you had done it or said it.”

Chapter 17 – Your Rational Mind
This chapter explores the role of the rational mind and the ego. “Calming your rational mind by reducing the load of addictions that keep it activated is an important phase of your growth into higher consciousness.”  This chapter also includes some good quotes: “It’s much more fulfilling to be loved that to be ‘right’” and (I love this one!) “Love brings more happiness than efficiency”

Chapter 18 – The Illusion of Self
“We work hard to make ourselves suffer.  It’s full-time job with no time off even on vacations!  As this activity and basic attitude of addictively securing one’s future happiness begins to be reprogrammed the ‘I’ looses its purpose and begins to merge with what is here and now.”

Chapter 19 – How to Recognise Your Addictions
This quote sums this chapter up nicely:
“A free, undominated awareness that is highly attuned here and now to the people and situations around you will best enable you to benefit by the wisdom that is waiting to be tapped in your biocomputer.  Your problem is to get at the wisdom that you already have – but which is now inaccessible due to your security, sensation and power dominated consciousness.”  Also: “Always remember that the individual with the higher consciousness is the one who is most flexible – who avoids fixed patterns – who flows in every life situation  so as not to get involved in addictive situations.”

Chapter 20 – Living Love with Children
“The only effective and permanent way to change the world in which we live is to change our level of consciousness.  And one of the best ways to repair the strong addictive programming that been conditioned into our biocomputer is to interact with children.”

Chapter 21 – How to Increase Your Enjoyment of Sex
This chapter shows how we can avoid some of the mental manipulations and addictions arising from the Sensations Center. “When your consciousness is dominated by your desire for the intense sensations of sex, you will be depriving yourself of a huge part of the beauty and loveliness that will be yours when you can enjoy sex at the fourth Center of Consciousness.”

Chapter 22 – The Optimal Use of Your Biocomputer
This chapter explores the parts and functions of the brain including the Cerebral Cortex, the Limbic system and the Reticular Activating System.

Chapter 23 – The programming of Happiness and Unhappiness
This chapter contains some useful diagrams to demonstrate the mechanisms of happiness and unhappiness.

Chapter 24 – How to Make Your Life Work
This chapters contains instructions, strategies and diagrams to help us elevate our addictions to preferences.

Chapter 25 – Purpose of Your Life
“A beautiful thing about higher consciousness is that what is best for you is best for everyone else.  When you begin to live in the Fourth or higher levels your radiant inner being creatively  changes the feeling and actions of the people and the vibration of the situations that you come into contact with”.  Sound like a pretty good definition of living your Mission!

Conclusion
This book should really be part of your collection, it is the sort of book you will read and probably lend to someone else who needs to read it more than you.

Some of the techniques are dated, I would be surprised if the people teaching the Living Love Way today (the author is now dead) would be teaching negative affirmations!

Next Month
Writing seems to be a common theme amongst people rediscovering and living their Mission so for all of us new authors we will take a look at “The Writer’s Journey from Inspiration to Publication” by Julia McCutchen.

What's Up?

Budding Authors!
If you like the idea of writing and getting a book published or you have written a book and want to get it published look out for a lady by the name of Julia McCutchen.  She has written a book “The Writer’s Journey from Inspiration to Publication” which I will be reviewing next month.  I attended Julia’s seminar at the Healing Arts Festival in London last month and found it very helpful.  Julia is conducting a seminar at the 25th Annual Writer’s Conference in Winchester (UK), the conference runs from 24th June to 1st July, please see the link for the conference website at the bottom of this newsletter.

The Role of Diet and Nutrition
This heading does not adequately describe the work of Phillip Day, (outspoken!) speaker and author of several books including; Health Wars, The Mind Game, Food for Thought and Cancer: Why We’re Still Dying to Know the Truth.  I saw Phillip last month at a meeting in Thame (UK), if you are interested in a profoundly alternative view on health, diet and the medical profession this guy is well worth seeing.  The link to the Campaign for Truth in Medicine website is at the bottom of this newsletter.

What the Bleep Do We Know?
If you have even a passing interest in quantum physics and how we create our own reality please treat yourself to this film currently showing in the UK (it has been showing in the US for a while).  A link to the film’s official website is at the bottom of this newsletter.
